NEW YORK (Bloomberg) — Barnes & Noble Inc. investor Wellington Management
Co. bought about 4.83 million more shares, making it the bookseller’s largest
institutional stockholder with a 10 percent stake. The Boston-based investment
adviser owns 6.58 million shares, according to a U.S. Securities and Exchange
Commission filing. That’s up from 1.75 million shares, or 2.7 percent of Barnes
& Noble’s outstanding stock, held at the end of March. Barnes & Noble,
the largest U.S. bookseller, operates its namesake bookstores, the B. Dalton chain
and video game stores. Wellington manages $270 billion for institutions and individuals.
