Jeffrey R. Seemann has been appointed dean of the College of the Environment and
Life Sciences (CELS) at the University of Rhode Island. His appointment will take
effect July 1, 2001. His currently is chairman of the department of biochemistry
at the University of Nevada, Reno. He will also be director of the University’s
Agricultural Experiment Station and Cooperative Extension, along with holding
a professorship in the Department of biochemistry, microbiology and molecular
genetics. He received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Oberlin College and
a doctorate in biological sciences from Stanford University and held postdoctoral
fellowships at Australian National University and the Carnegie Institution of
Washington at Stanford.
