Maury Klein has received the Knox College 2001 Alumni Achievement Award and an honorary doctorate from his alma mater. A professor of history at the University of Rhode Island, he will receive the award at Knox College’s Founder’s Day Celebration in February. The award is given annually to three alumni in recognition of their meritorious career achievements. The honorary degree will be conferred during the college’s commencement exercises in June of this year. Klein graduated from Knox College in 1960 with a bachelor of arts degree and earned his master’s and doctoral degrees from Emory University. An avid writer, he has published 11 books and numerous articles for journals and magazines. He is a resident of Narragansett.
