R.I. loses ticket maker to Florida

NORTH SMITHFIELD– Creative Games International, a division of Canadian Bank
Note Co., Ltd. of Ontario, announced that it would close its plant here in the
former Tupperware factory and move into a new facility in Plant City, Fla. Creative
Games produces instant lottery tickets used in this state as well as those used
in New Hampshire, Connecticut and some Caribbean countries, the Providence Journal
reported. About 80 jobs will be lost in North Smithfield, but company officials
said relocation packages had been offered to all its employees here. The Journal
quoted a company official as saying the company had been attracted to Plant
City by tax incentives and job training offered by Florida. The official added
that Creative Games expected to employ up to 150 workers at its new facility
in Florida.
