AAA releases Halloween safety tips

With Halloween just over a week away, AAA released its tips for motorists and parents to help keep everyone safe.

AAA recommends motorists drive at least five mph below the posted speed limit;watch for children walking on roadways and crossing the street; and turn on headlights – even in the daylight.

Parents should ensure there is an adult to supervise children under 12, tell children not to eat any treats until they get home, and make sure Halloween costumes are flame-retardant.

Trick-or-treaters should wear disguises that don’t obstruct vision, carry a flashlight and walk on the left side of the road facing traffic.
