Al Basile has been named secretary of the board for the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities. He has served on the board of directors since 2005 and has volunteered on the grants committee and the Tom Roberts Prize selection committee. Basile has a background as a poet and fiction writer and is now a professional musician, writing and performing with Kenoza Music/Sweetspot Records. •
