The Anthony Tomaselli Gallery at 140 Spring Street, Newport will open to the public on May 28, 2011. The gallery is located across from Trinity Church in the Historic Hill area of Newport.
Tomaselli, a painter and 18-year member of the The Providence Art Club with a studio at 9 Thomas Street in Providence is represented at over 12 galleries in New England, and in Washington, DC. The Newport gallery will feature Tomaselli’s artwork, exclusively. Tomaselli teaches painting at the Providence Art Club as well as painting workshops throughout the area.

When asked why he wanted to open the gallery, Tomaselli said, “to keep the conversation going. To inspire others while maintaining what motivates me – making art an experience of learning and teaching. To continue the process of building, renewing, and making new relationships.” His art has been described as bold, passionate paintings in a contemporary, realistic style.
The gallery will feature paintings of New England, city, sea and landscapes. “Talks with Anthony Tomaselli” informal opportunities for people to come together in the gallery for painting demos, conversation, and a little philosophy will be held most Wednesdays in the summer at 10am, and those interested should bring their coffee/beverage and a folding chair and are encouraged to call ahead to reserve their space.
Tomaselli’s work is available for private showings and may also be commissioned for home or office.
Born and raised in RI, Tomaselli and his wife, Tina, live in Cranston and are the owners of T’s Restaurants in Cranston and East Greenwich.
The Anthony Tomaselli Gallery at 140 Spring Street, Newport will be open beginning on May 28th from 10am to 8pm. Hours will be Sunday through Thursday, 10am to 6pm, and Friday and Saturday, from 10am to 8pm. A gala reception will be held in late June.
