Providence, R.I. (April 12, 2010) — West Kingston-based APC by Schneider Electric, a global leader in integrated critical power and cooling services, today donated $30,000 to the newly created Rhode Island Flood Recovery Fund (RIFRF), United Way of Rhode Island (UWRI) announced. This contribution pushes the total dollars raised for the fund to $590,000.
UWRI launched the RIFRF on April 8 as a community-wide effort to raise money to help those affected by severe flooding caused by a series of storms at the end of March. The money raised will be used for expenses not covered by FEMA, private insurance and the U.S. Small Business Administration.

“The historic flooding has had widespread impact on Rhode Island’s communities,” said Laurent Vernerey, President and CEO of APC by Schneider Electric. “As a company headquartered in an impacted area, we have a responsibility and a commitment to provide the support needed to assist local families and communities in their recovery.”
One hundred percent of the contributions made to RIFRF will go directly to the flood relief effort. A committee of community leaders has been set up to determine how the dollars will be distributed to various agencies around the state.
The money will be distributed through local community organizations (such as community action agencies), who will assist individuals directly. (RIFRF will not make money available directly to any individuals or families.) For more information visit: www.liveunitedri.org.
