Boston Stock Exchange seeks NASDAQ link

BOSTON — The Boston Stock Exchange has applied to federal authorities for permission
to let its members to trade NASDAQ stocks. The request was filed with the Securities
and Exchange Commission on May 14 and if, after a 35-day comment period, permission
is granted the Boston exchange would join New York as the second regional market
to offer NASDAQ stocks as well as New York and other trading venues. The head
of the Boston exchange told the Boston Globe he expected approval that would enable
the Boston exchange to begin offering NASDAQ stocks in September.
