In prepared remarks, she said, “Our graduates work, and work with joy. Looking forward, I’m excited to continue to find ways to inspire and empower our artists to meaningfully impact the future of our field and the communities in which they live and work.”

When Brazil was appointed, former director Brian Mertes took up the role of director of graduate studies for the Master of Fine Arts program. In this position, he serves as the primary liaison between the Brown and Trinity Rep collaboration and the chair and faculty of Theatre Arts and Performance Studies, Playwriting, and the graduate school at the Ivy League school.

The MFA program was recently ranked sixth-best in the world by The Hollywood Reporter and among the top 25 best programs in the United States and United Kingdom by Backstage.
