A faculty member of Brown University and a 2-year-old boy from Minnesota are
being watched for signs of severe acute respiratory syndrome after
recent visits to Toronto, the Associated Press reported.
A third case of probable SARS was found in a 14-month-old
infant from Minnesota who may have contracted the disease on a
trip to China recently, AP said. The U.S. Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention in Atlanta recently said the number of
probable cases of SARS had risen to 41.

The unidentified Brown faculty member in the school of
biology and medicine has been asked to stay away from the campus
in Providence, R.I. and students who were in contact with
the professor have been informed, AP said, citing a statement
posted on the university’s Web site Friday.
The World Health Organization recently put out a
world advisory against traveling to Toronto, Canada’s largest city
and financial center, saying people leaving Toronto had spread
SARS to the U.S., Australia and the Philippines. SARS first
originated in China’s Guangdong province.
