Christie’s changes name

LONDON – Luxury real estate firm Christie’s Great Estates has a new name. As of last week, the company switched to Christie’s International Real Estate.
Christie’s maintains offices and a network of worldwide affiliates including Narragansett-based Lila Delman Real Estate.
“We’re happy with the name change,” Lila Delman President Melanie Delman said. “We were already in that direction as a company and the affiliations are really just a complement and something we use more for marketing.”
Last month Lila Delman announced a partnership with London-based Mayfair International Realty to market Delman’s properties in Europe. The company is also reaching out to international buyers more aggressively, Delman said.
Christie’s, owned by an art auction house, said its new name would better convey its global strategy.
“This change of name confirms Christie’s continued commitment to extend its real estate reach by creating a closer alignment between our art and real estate businesses,” CEO Neil Palmer said. “The new name best positions our valued and highly qualified network of affiliates to capitalize on our global market presence and the opportunities presented by our high-quality client base.”
The Christie’s real estate arm said it wants to follow its parent company into expanding markets in the Middle East, China and Russia. It also reaffirmed its commitment to established markets in Europe and North and South America.
