Cicilline welcomes Isis Biopolymer to city HQ

PROVIDENCE – Isis Biopolymer Inc., a manufacturer of patches that deliver drugs through the skin, was welcomed to the city by political, business and educational leaders last month after moving from Warwick.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at 233 Richmond St., where Isis has established a new facility for research and development, manufacturing and administrative departments. The building is owned by Brown University and is across the street from where the school is planning to build its new Warren Alpert Medical School building.
Mayor David N. Cicilline said the move showed the growing prominence of the city’s “Knowledge District,” the Jewelry District’s new nickname.
Isis currently employs 40 people and says it plans to hire additional employees as quickly as the company expands. Emma Durand, the company’s chief executive officer and chief technology officer, said the company chose Providence because of outreach from city leaders and to be close to Brown and nearby research hospitals. &#8226
