PROVIDENCE – Responding to changes suggested by previous participants of its Champions in Action program, Citizens Bank has added features to the initiative designed to combat the challenges placed on the recognized nonprofits by today’s difficult economic environment.
The U.S. subsidiary of Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc has honored 36 Rhode Island nonprofits since it started the program in 2002, “providing critical resources to help them respond to diverse community needs,” said Ned Handy, president of Citizens Bank, Rhode Island.
New benefits of being named a Champion in Action include:
- Financial support of $35,000 (from $25,000)
- A lengthened time of being honored, from three to six months
- The opportunity for the nonprofit’s executive director to receive mentorship help from Handy.
- Previously honored organizations may re-apply after five years
