When asked about why the bank chose Root, a spokeswoman said it was his familiarity with the credit union’s business that led to the decision.
“He has a deep understanding of where we are at and where we need to go,” said Shelly Peckham-Berardinelli, vice president of marketing.
“More than 30 years experience in the banking industry, combined with a longstanding relationship with our staff makes David the perfect fit to lead Coventry Credit Union. We look forward to an exciting future together,” said Roger Laliberte, chairman of the board of directors, in a news release.
Root is a CPA in Massachusetts and Rhode Island and owns Root & Associates. He earned his bachelor’s in American history and his master’s in accounting from the University of Rhode Island before auditing for Big Four accounting firms for nine years.
