COVID-19 UI filings increase by 373

PROVIDENCE – COVID-19 unemployment insurance filings increased by 373, to 170,733, the R.I. Department of Labor and Training said on Monday.

Pandemic unemployment assistance filings increased by 335, to 67,431. The federally backed program covers small-business owners, the self-employed and contractors.

All initial unemployment filings in the state total 250,951 since March 9.

Temporary Disability Insurance filings due to COVID-19 increased by seven on Sunday, to 13,652. All TDI filings since March 9 total 25,685.
