CVS exec honored for efforts to provide health care for underserved

WOONSOCKET – A CVS Health Corp. executive has been honored for her work in providing affordable health care for those in need.

Eileen Howard Boone, senior vice president of corporate social responsibility and philanthropy for CVS Health and president of the CVS Health Foundation, has received the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics’ 2019 Safety Net Health Care Champion Award.

The honor recognizes recipients’ impact on the Free & Charitable Clinic and Charitable Pharmacy and their patients.

“Under Eileen Howard Boone’s leadership, our member organizations have grown in their ability to support their communities and their patients,” NAFC CEO and President Nicole Lamoureux said. “Her personal commitment to the medically underserved in our country is evident; she is a thought leader when it comes to philanthropy, enhancing partnerships and expanding health care access to the medically underserved in the country.”

CVS Health Foundation and CVS Health’s partnership with NAFC has resulted in nearly $8 million in funding to Free and Charitable Clinics, Charitable Pharmacies and State Associations in 45 states.

The money has allowed members to care for tens of thousands of patients, added thousands of hours of operation and helped save more than $12 million in potential emergency room costs.
