Denise Barge appointed to housing commission

PROVIDENCE — Denise A. Barge, executive director of the Minority Development
Corp. and the Rhode Island Coalition for Minority Investment has been appointed
by Governor Lincoln Almond to a two-year term on the Board of Commissioners for
the Rhode Island Housing and Mortgage Finance Corporation. Barge is a member of
the Urban Financial Services Corporation, vice chairperson of the City Cranston
Redevelopment Agency, and serves on the boards of the Greater Providence Chambers
of Commerce, the YMCA-Intown and Volunteers in Providence Schools. Previously
she held executive positions at several banks, including BankBoston, BankBoston
Hospital Trust and Fleet Bank. She is a graduate of the University of California
at Los Angeles.
