Downcity Partnership selects first president

PROVIDENCE — Downcity Partnership, Inc., a nonprofit organization established
and funded with $9 million by The Rhode Island Foundation last fall to revitalize
the historic Providence district, has hired Peter Armato as its first president.
Armato, who is currently directing the downtown redevelopment of Bellevue, Washington,
was also executive director of the Georgetown (Washington DC) Business and Professional
Association and Government Relations Director for the Greater Houston Hospital
Council. He formally assumes his position on July 16.
