“Early Stage Marketing Challenges” will be featured by the Southern New England Entrepreneurs Forum (SNEEF) on Thursday, September 8, 5:30 p.m., Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Center, 150 Martine Street, Fall River.

Marketing for an early stage company is a challenge. It is critical to verify the need for a new product or service, identify the market size, understand the competition, set a price point, let the marketplace know about your product or service, and develop enough information to determine if there is a reasonable probability for success in building a company around the entrepreneur’s idea. All of this and more with either a very limited or sometimes no budget.

Durval Tavares, President and Founder of Aquabotix (www.Aquabotix.net) in Fall River, will present his plan to navigate these marketing challenges for his new underwater vehicle-mounted high resolution camera system designed for both the business and consumer markets. A privately funded company created in 2011, Aquabotix uses innovative technology to design products that enable you to experience what is happening underwater without getting wet. The firm’s first two products, HydroView and AquaLens, will be released to the consumer market at boat shows this fall. HydroView changes the marketplace, because it is controlled via motion control using your iPad, iPhone or android phone. AquaLens will be spotlighted in the prestigious program, Newport for New Products, at the Newport International Boat Show. Both HydroView and AquaLens are affordable, easy to use and friendly to underwater environments. Tavares began his career at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, where he led several successful research and development efforts.

A panel of experts will then provide comments, evaluations and suggestions regarding Aqabotix’s plan and presentation. Panelists are:
* Jim Geisman, an entrepreneur and recognized expert in emerging company marketing and specialist in how pricing affects marketing success;
* Nick Pappas, principal at Massachusetts Technology Development Corporation, who will focus on how a start up’s marketing plan will influence the probability of a startup getting financing
* Cheryl Zimmerman, President and Founder of FarSounder, who has successfully survived the start-up phase in a company serving a similar marketplace.
