EforAll South Coast names winners
of Healthy Community pitch contest

FALL RIVER – Business-accelerator group EforAll South Coast has named the winners of its recent Healthy Community pitch contest, in which judges heard from eight local startups about ways to improve local health.

First place and $1,000 went to Gnome Surf, a surf camp for children with disabilities and autism owned by Chris Antao of Fall River.

Second place and $750 went to Caroline Paradis and Kelley Cabral-Mosher of Fairhaven for Elevate Summit, a mindfulness event to be held next fall.

New Bedford’s Bryant Capello and Lisa Ortiz took third place and $500 with their pitch for restaurant Phresh.

The Village Meeple, a board-game café idea by Justin Yi and Charles Van de Workeen, and Allison Faunce’s South Coast Open Air Market earned $500 Fan Favorite awards. Both are located in Somerset.

The pitch contest took place at the Fall River YMCA, with local judges Chris Johnson of Servpro; Rayana Grace of the Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts; Chris Nielsen of Thirsty Joe’s Café; Patti Rego of WeLoveFallRiver; and EforAll alumnus Luis Gonsalves, owner of Juiced Cafe.

EforAll’s final pitch contest of the year will be held at 6 p.m. on Oct. 24 at the New Bedford Harbor Hotel. More information can be found here.
