Pawtucket-based Gateway Healthcare will receive a $246,661 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Sen. Lincoln Chafee announced. The money will go toward the Gateway After-School Program, which offers after-school enrichment, arts and recreation activities and social skills training to low-income students in Pawtucket.
“Engaging students in positive ways outside of the classroom is important to keep them interested in what is going on inside the classroom,” Chafee said. “By providing activities that will connect with students on a level which is both enjoyable and educational, Gateway is creating a peer base that will influence kids in a constructive way.”
