General Electric cutting aircraft engine jobs

LYNN – General Electric will eliminate 250 jobs in its aircraft engine production operations here among 4,000 job eliminations in that division of the company, the Boston Globe reported. GE Aircraft Engines is based in Evendale, Ohio. The reduction in aircraft engine production had been anticipated before the terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., but those attacks have accelerated the process as airlines cut back on service and aircraft orders even more sharply because of the public reaction to the attacks.
