Hasbro partners with network for new cartoon

PAWTUCKET – Hasbro Inc. is teaming up with the Cartoon Network to produce “Transformers Animated,” a 27-episode television series slated to debut in 2008, the companies said last week in a news release.
The series is to include 26 half-hour episodes plus a 90-minute special. The head writer will be Marty Isenberg, of “Danny Phantom,” “X-Men” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” fame.
The announcement came shortly before the live-action “Transformers” movie, slated to be released July 3 by DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures, Cartoon Network and Hasbro.
“We are thrilled to be working with the highly creative team at Cartoon Network on bringing the next chapter in the Transformers saga to kids and fans around the world,” said Brian Goldner, Hasbro’s chief operating officer, in a news release. “The animation style that Cartoon Network has developed really brings the lore and characters of the Transformers franchise alive in a way that has never been seen through animation.”
