Hasbro to cut jobs at Mass. board-game plant

PAWTUCKET – Hasbro Inc., the second-biggest U.S. toymaker, said it plans to eliminate 200 jobs at a board-game plant in Massachusetts.
The plan hinges on an agreement with union negotiators to change work practices at the East Longmeadow, Mass., facility, Hasbro said last week in a statement reported by Bloomberg News Service.
Hasbro said it will invest $40 million in the factory, $10 million of which will go toward updating equipment. Most of the company’s board games will still be produced in Massachusetts and Ireland, the company said.
