PBN: What interests you about materials management?
MACHADO: It is the enormous challenges of providing our customers with a product that meets their quality, delivery and cost/price requirements. I’m charged with developing competitive material management strategies that provide the best cost of ownership for Dryvit Systems Inc. These strategies include searching for and negotiating with the best cost of ownership suppliers on the globe and working with logistics providers as part of our extended team. I enjoy the collaborative effort.

PBN: How has your experience prepared you for this position?
MACHADO: Thanks to a challenging team of peers and managers at [Texas Instruments], I have learned and continuously improved on many skills that are vital to meeting my job requirements here at Dryvit. Among others, I have broadened knowledge of engineering, operations, marketing and materials management.

PBN: What are the biggest issues you expect to be responsible for?
MACHADO: The biggest issues in today’s global economy are obtaining the best cost of ownership products for Dryvit, controlling the escalating cost of petroleum derivative products and many other major commodities, striking a balance for the right inventory levels to properly serve our customers so we can meet and exceed their expectations.
I rely on the efforts and inputs from the Dryvit team around the world to accomplish this and to secure win-win sourcing agreements with our suppliers.
