Leland R. Merrill Jr. has been named senior vice president and assistant manager, commercial real estate lending, at BankNewport. He most recently served as vice president, commercial real estate lending. Merrill will be responsible for commercial lending in the Newport County area. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont in Burlington and a master’s from the University of Rhode Island.
