Life Science Expo 2018 set for April

PROVIDENCE – The second annual Life Sciences Expo will be held at the Omni Providence Hotel on April 4, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., MedMates announced Monday.

The expo program includes panel discussions on industry-wide issues such as investment, innovation, and growing the supply chain and industry ecosystem locally, as well as specific life sciences topics.

“Our mission is to grow the local life sciences economy by bringing together and advocating for talent and resources to support the life sciences community in southeastern New England,” said Carol Malysz, executive director of MedMates, in a statement. “This event is designed to enhance the connectivity between the life science entities in the region, and to showcase the truly remarkable innovation that is happening here.”

This year, Susan Windham Bannister, president & CEO of Biomedical Growth Strategies, will be the event’s keynote speaker on the topic of “Building a life science ecosystem.”

Dr. Megan Ranney, associate professor of health services, policy and practice, and associate professor of emergency medicine at Rhode Island Hospital and the Warren Alpert Medical School, is the day’s master of ceremonies.

In addition to panels and speakers, the event will be closed out with a reception from 5-6 p.m.

A MedMates spokeswoman said that last year the expo had 300 attendees and more than 20 sponsors.
