Locals arts groups, Sexual Assault and Trauma Center getting HUD funds

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HYD) is sending AS220 and Perishable Theatre and the Rhode Island Sexual Assault and Trauma Resource Center federal funding secured by U.S. Senator Jack Reed in the Fiscal Year 2004 Omnibus Appropriation Bill. AS220 and Perishable Theatre, twomindependent non-profit arts organizations, will receive $168,997 to expand and improve their buildings.

The two organizations purchased and renovated a uninhabitable building in the Empire Street neighborhood of Providence. Now there are 26 tenenats including residents, art studios, a cafe, and performance space.
