NEIT announces school’s first graduate degree

WARWICK – The New England Institute of Technology will offer its first Master of Science degree, Senior Vice President Thomas F. Wylie announced in a news release last week.
Classes begin in March 2010 for the degree in occupational therapy, which Wylie said not only represents the first M.S. degree for New England Tech, but the first graduate degree for occupational therapy in Rhode Island.
Nancy Dooley will serve as the program’s director. Occupational Therapy Department Chairwoman Carol Doehler designed the program with input from the department’s faculty and staff.
According to Wylie, the program will serve “as a bridge for certified occupational therapy assistants to acquire the necessary skills for the next level of responsibility as registered occupational therapists.”
“New England Tech’s [M.S. in Occupational Therapy] program is unlike other programs because students will be allowed to earn their Bachelor of Science degree credits while earning credits towards their Master of Science degree,” Wylie said. &#8226
