Organizations honored for preservation

PROVIDENCE – Sixteen organizations involved with historic properties from Central Falls to Block Island have won Rhody Awards from Preserve Rhode Island and the R.I. Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission.
The winners, announced this week and set to be honored Oct. 14 at the Statehouse, include:

  • Cecilia A. St. Jean of the Pawtuxet Valley Preservation and Historical Society.
  • The Barrington Preservation Society.
  • Patrick M. Malone of Barrington.
  • Developers Marilyn H. and James R. Winoker of Cranston.
  • M. Adele Anthony of the Peter Greene House in Conimicut.
  • Tom Silvia and Shannon Chandley for the Wickford House.
  • The Steelyard in Providence.
  • AS220 of Providence for the Mercantile Block.
  • Louis Yip for the Pawtucket Hair Cloth Mill in Central Falls.
  • Everett Amaral for the Rhode Island Tool Complex in Providence.
  • The town of Burrillville for the Stillwater Mill.
  • The town of New Shoreham for North Light.
  • St. Thomas More Parish for their parish church in Narragansett.
  • The Preservation Society of Newport County for Château-sur-Mer.
  • The Pettaquamscutt Historical Society for Hale House in South Kingstown.
  • The Rhode Island State House Restoration Society.
