PROVIDENCE – Ten historic properties, individuals and groups across the state have been named honorees for Preserve Rhode Island’s 2024 Rhody Awards program.
The historic preservation nonprofit annually celebrates the achievements of individuals and organizations for their efforts in utilizing historic preservation to strengthen communities, improve quality of life and address social challenges. The honorees will be recognized on Oct. 20 in a ceremony at Rosecliff in Newport.

Wendy Nicholas Dorsey, a former executive director of the Providence Preservation Society, will receive the Frederick C. Williamson Professional Award. Dorsey, who also served with the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Northeast regional office, excelled in expanding educational programs, leading legislative campaigns and fostering community engagement in preservation efforts, Preserve Rhode Island says.
