Pro-Act Biotech of Warren, Rhode Island is an expert in Eco-safe, microbial remediation, otherwise known as bioremediation. The company developed a specialized oil pollution and spill treatment called OilClean™. As of December 2010, the EPA listed PRO-ACT (aka, OilClean with Activator) on the EPA National Contingency Plan Product Schedule.

The OilClean treatment system combines microbes that use oil as their primary food source with other nutrients and oxygen. The company works with EcoSolutions to create environments that allows the microbes to flourish while protecting native Ecosystems. As a result, the microbes grow and multiply on the terrestrial and oil/water interface and will keep reproducing until the food source is gone. Pro-Act’s microbes will also produce surfactants that help to disperse the oil for optimum indigenous and augmented microbial effectiveness. Unlike chemical dispersants, surfactants will not harm the environment, thus damaged habitats can be restored faster.
