Providence Community Health Centers to open new center in Olneyville

PROVIDENCE  Providence Community Health Centers continues to expand its footprint, and will open its ninth health center in 2022. The organization plans a groundbreaking for renovations on Friday.

The new clinic, in Olneyville, will eventually serve more than 14,000 people a year and will offer express care services, for injuries or illness that do not require an emergency department, according to a news release.

The location of PCHC Atwood is at 31 Atwood St., the site of a a former Boys & Girls Club of Providence.

Across its existing network of community health centers, as well as speciality clinics for podiatry, optometry and dentistry, the Providence Community Health Centers provides a range of primary health services.

The nonprofit is a federally qualified health center and its doctors are board-certified, according to its website. The organization annually sees 60,000 patients, which makes it among the largest health center networks for Rhode Island.

Established in 1968, the network employs about 64 physicians.
