Quonset hotel to open in April

NORTH KINGSTOWN – A $7.5 million hotel is slated to open at Quonset Business Park in April, two months behind schedule.
The 103-room TownePlace Suites by Marriott will sit in the Gateway Center across from The Shops at Quonset Point. Initially scheduled to open in February, the hotel postponed the opening to April because of upgrades to achieve more Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification points and various upgrades to finishes, said a hotel spokeswoman.
The four-story hotel includes suites with kitchens, an indoor pool, a fitness facility and a meeting room for 20 people. The hotel operator, Colwen Management of Nashua, N.H., said environmentally friendly features include white roofing, water-efficient landscaping, optimized energy management systems and green cleaning practices.
Colwen said hotel is geared toward both long-term guests visiting local businesses and tourists staying just a few nights.
