R.I. gas prices fall another 11 cents

Gasoline prices in Rhode Island dropped another 11 cents per gallon last week, bringing them to their lowest level since mid-April, according to AAA Southern New England.

AAA’s September 5 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.859 per gallon, 11 cents less than last week. In the last five weeks prices have fallen by a total of 25 cents per gallon.

Last year at this time the average price was $3.239, which was in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 21 cents, from a low of $2.759 to a high of $2.969. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area.
