PROVIDENCE – Tasked with leading the Rhode Island Foundation’s activities and grant-making for economic security, Carmen Díaz-Jusino was announced April 17 as a strategic initiative officer at the nonprofit group.

Jessica David, the foundation’s executive vice president of strategy and community investments, in a statement, said Díaz-Jusino’s “experience in small-business development and job training” led her to be a “natural” fit for the position.

In her prepared remarks, David added: “She understands the role of philanthropy in sparking community change and is committed to improving the economic security of all Rhode Islanders.”

The economic security-focused role is a new one for the foundation.

In the senior-level position, she oversaw the implementation of all CWE programming in New England.

Prior to working for the CWE, Díaz-Jusino was a bilingual business and employment specialist with the Goodwill Industries of Rhode Island. She holds an undergraduate degree from the Universidad del Caribe in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and a master’s degree in organizational management and leadership from Springfield College in Springfield, Mass.
