Tony Mendez, President/CEO of Video Mundo Broadcasting Company, LLC, Poder 1110 WPMZ Radio, Board Member The National Children’s Study Rhode Island Community Advisory Board, United Way Community Advisory Board class of 2013, 31. Back in September 1995 Tony, his brother Dilson Mendez, and partner Zoilo Garcia launched Poder 1110 WPMZ Radio the Spanish-language radio station, tapping Rhode Island’s fast-growing Hispanic market and attracting flocks of listeners. Poder 1110 WPMZ Radio is the oldest Latino owned radio station in Rhode Island. Tony is married and the father of two children
Elvys Ruiz, President/CEO at Etnias Center for Translation and Intercultural Studies. Past president of Quisqueya In Action, served on the boards of directors of the Dominican-American National Roundtable and the Rhode Island Coalition for Immigrants and Refugees. He is also the President of the Multicultural Advisory Council of the Rhode Island National Guard, a US Selective Service Registrar, Director of Theater Troupe “Trapiche” and a Dominican Folklorist and Researcher. Elvys is married and the father of two children.
Oscar Alexis Mejias, president and CEO of HITEP Hispanic Technology and Education Programs, an organization that does exactly what its name implies, was founded in December 2006 in Central Falls. He is also President at Rhode Island Professional Latino Association(RIPLA). Oscar is an information system engineer with more than 25 years of experience in software development, hardware and project management. He developed the tourism-industry software TRAVELSOT and is also president of the Rhode Island Professional Latino Association. Mejias is a past speaker at the Rhode Island Latino Professionals and Business Leaders Network. Oscar is married and the father of two children.
