CUMBERLAND, RI – The Children’s Workshop today celebrates 19 years of caring and educating young children.

“The Children’s Workshop began 19 years ago with the intention of fulfilling the need for quality child care and this remains the core of our mission today,” said Kevin Fusco, President & CEO. “We are dedicated to meeting the need of working families to ensure a safe and nurturing environment where children can learn. This is especially important given the current economic difficulties. We look forward to a future of continued success in providing high quality, affordable child care services.”

The company was founded in 1990 by Dave MacDonald, who as a small business owner, saw many of his employees were unable to return to work because they could not find quality, affordable child care. In order to provide a much needed benefit to his staff, MacDonald made space within his office building to create a superior, early learning facility. From these humble beginnings The Children’s Workshop was born.

The first center, located in Lincoln, opened its doors with only 18 children, but grew to 80 within a matter of months. It became clear additional high-quality programs were being sought by families throughout the region. The Children’s Workshop acquired and developed additional programs and now operates 15 centers throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts, meeting the educational, emotional and developmental needs of some 1,500 children daily.
