KINGSTON — A.F. Lusi Construction, Inc., of Greenville is the winning bidder
to build the $12 million, 2,500-seat ice rink at the University of Rhode Island,
URI has announced. Construction is expected to begin this summer and will be open
behind the tennis courts at the athletic complex off Route 138. Symes, Maiani
& McKee Associates of Cambridge will work with Lusi on the architectural and
engineering portion of the contract, URI announced. The skating rink, which will
house a National Hockey Rink size skating area, will be open seven days a week,
15 hours a day. It is being developed separately from the convocation center,
which is already well under construction.
