March 14, 2011 [PROVIDENCE] Shape Up RI participants who attended the Midway Energizer Event at Moses Brown School Field House this Sunday were entered in a raffle for a new bike from Caster’s Bicycles and Fitness.
Marguerite Hebert of Warwick was the lucky winner of the bike valued at $450.

“Shape Up RI has had an incredible impact on my life,” said Hebert, a grandmother of four.
Participants in the pedometer-based walking challenge, which has received generous support from major sponsor Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island, form teams with friends, co-workers, or, like Hebert—family members.
Her team, the “Muttville Walkers,” consists of six relatives who reside in three Rhode Island cities: one from Coventry, two from Warwick, and three from Woonsocket. The members of the aptly-named “Muttville Walkers” take their four-legged companions along on their team walks. Hebert’s husband, Roland, is captain of the dog-friendly team.
Hebert, who is a veteran of the annual Shape Up RI competitions, recounted her experiences participating in the award-winning fitness challenge.
“When I first participated in Shape Up RI, I was captain of a team from Lifespan’s Phototherapy Department in 2008. That same year, I had the wonderful opportunity of meeting Rajiv Kumar.”
To Hebert’s delight, her second encounter with Kumar was at the Field House when he randomly selected her name in the raffle.
“Shape Up RI is continually seeking ways to keep our program fun and exciting for participants,” said Kumar, Founder and Chairman of Shape Up RI. “We are grateful for the collaborative efforts of Caster’s Bicycles and Fitness in our campaign to encourage Rhode Islanders to lead healthier lifestyles.”
Earlier this year, Shape Up RI announced that all participants in its competition (February 7 through May 1) who track their progress each week during the competition will be entered into a random drawing to win a $5,000 Whole Foods Market grocery giveaway. In addition, all participants who complete weekly health challenges have the opportunity to win other exciting prizes including bikes, kayaks, and Nintendo Wii Fit gaming consoles.
The model of the statewide wellness program is simple. Upon registration, participants receive a digital pedometer, logbook, and access to a robust online data tracking system, through which they can set goals, track their progress, communicate with team members, and compare their results with participants across the state.
Participants also receive e-newsletters with useful health tips, inspiration, and updates about hundreds of free Shape Up RI wellness events that take place throughout the state.
“The program has made me feel really good about accomplishing my personal goals for a healthier lifestyle,” Hebert stated. “Wearing the pedometer to count my daily steps has been a really effective motivator.”
