Galan G. Daukas will join The Washington Trust Company as executive vice president the Washington Trust Bancorp, Inc. parent company of Washington Trust, announced today.
In the newly created position, Daukas will lead the bank’s Wealth Management Division. He will be responsible for establishing and executing strategy for the bank’s trust and investment area, Phoenix Investment Management, along with the Weston Financial Group, which the bank expects to acquire in the third quarter of 2005. The appointment will take effect on August 30.

Daukas comes from the Managers Funds, LLC where he served as COO of the Norwalk, Conn, based firm. Under his management, the firm grew from $2.7 to $8.5 billion in assets. He has also served as COO at Harbor Capital Management Company in Boston and the Fleet Investment Advisor’s also in Boston.
The Washington Trust Company is a Rhode Island state-chartered bank founded in 1800. The bank offers personal banking, business banking and wealth management services through its offices in Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut.
