Washington Trust appoints MIS officer
Mark A. Smithey has been appointed the MIS officer of the Washington Trust Company. He is responsible for the daily operations of the company’s network system and management of the bank’s technical support department. He joined WT in 1997, as network administrator. He previously held the same position at the Westerly Hospital for ten years. A Westerly resident, Smithey received his bachelor’s degree in computerized information systems from the New England Institute of Technology.

Scott M. Maiocchi
New appointments at Spot Digital Video
Spot Digital Video, Inc., a broadcast-quality video, graphics, animation and multimedia production services company located in Providence, has promoted Scott M. Maiocchi, and Shannon E. Brearley, and hired Meredith A. Gallo.
Maiocchi was promoted from director to producer. He is now in charge of Spot News, a newly introduced broadcast video service for public relations and communications professionals. He is also the head writer and producer for Video Concierge, a soon-to-be-launched “what’s happening” program for hotel guests in the city of Providence. Before joining Spot last year, Maiocchi was an independent film maker and an employee of Hollywood Pictures in New York City. A Warwick resident, he is a member of the Boston Film and Video Foundation.
Shannon E. Brearley
Brearley was promoted to senior Avid editor from her former position as Avid editor. She is responsible for editing and compositing images and using Avid technology to form entertainment and educational programming for Spot clients. A Coventry resident, she also provides creative consultation from concept to completion. A New England Tech. graduate, she has been involved with set design, videography, directing, audio engineering, and editing several nationally distributed videos at Spot.
Meredith A. Gallo
Gallo joins Spot as associate producer. She was previously a script supervisor for two independent 16mm films shot on location in Rhode Island. As AP she is responsible for management and production of client projects, as well as serving as liaison between Spot’s marketing and public relations firm. She received her bachelor of arts degree in film and English from Rhode Island College.
New webmaster at WPRI/WNAC
Bruce Morin has joined WPRI/WNAC-TV as webmaster. He will be responsible for the design, maintenance and upgrade of the CBS 12 and Fox 64 websites. Both television stations provide live video streaming of all their local newscasts on their sites. Morin was most recently the web designer/web master at Liquid Blue in Lincoln. He also held the same position at the 1928 Company in Burbank, California.
Peter Tarbox
Mesa Systems Guild Expands Operations Team
Mesa Systems Guild, Inc., provider of Web-based product development and project management solutions, has made additions to their engineering, sales and client relationship departments. Mesa’s newest executives are Peter Tarbox, director of medical equipment sales; John Smithers, director of key account projects; Bryan Bartone, senior engineer; and Lynda Gaines, Manager of Telesales. Each of these new Mesa team members will be located at the Warwick headquarters.
Mesa Systems Guild, through its Mesa/Vista family of products provides a project portal for managers and development teams who need access to all data related to their project. These innovative tools create collaborative environments for project developers and managers to integrate multiple tools using standard Web browsers.
Tarbox will approach prospective clients as well as strengthening ties with current clients in the medical equipment devices industry. Prior to joining Mesa, Tarbox was national account manager at Mathworks, Incorporated. He was responsible for customer relationships with Mathworks’ largest clients.
Smithers is managing large client interactions including contract negotiations and the analysis of customer needs to best serve each client. Prior to Mesa, he served as technical services manager at Cabot Corporation’s Business and Technology Center. Smithers implemented several customer-driven service improvement initiatives and implemented a core project management methodology.
Lynda Gaines
Bartone has been added to the engineering department to enhance and design improvements to the Mesa/Vista family of products. He will also be on the team designing new additions to the Mesa/Vista product line for the future. Bartone developed e-commerce systems for companies such as Mastercard at Logicon in Rhode Island prior to joining the Mesa Systems Guild. He was also a member of the team that created automated identification technology to the logistics system used by the Air Force.
As manager of telesales, Lynda Gaines will establish business relationships and generate sales leads through the telemarketing department with a strong emphasis on international accounts. She was previously at Vector Software as director of sales.
