Labbe, vice president of The Feitelberg Company of Fall River, Mass., has been awarded the professional insurance designation Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter by the American Institute for CPCU in Pennsylvania. CPCUs must complete ten courses and national essay examinations to meet the requirements as established by the American Institute Code of Professional Ethics. Labbe is a resident of Portsmouth.

Alan H. Litwin
Alan H. Litwin, of Kahn, Litwin, Renza & Co., Ltd., recently attended the AICPA’s National Healthcare Industry Conference in Las Vegas. While at the conference, he attended sessions that dealt with issues such as healthcare into the new millenium; strategies in dealing with managed care; physician compensation and available payment methodologies; information systems issues; recent tax law developments; general Medicare reimbursement; improving the bottom line of healthcare practices; and techniques for measuring and managing operational, strategic, and financial risks. Litwin leads the healthcare consulting group at Kahn, Litwin, Renza & Co., and is a member of the Medical Group Management Association. He is serving a two-year term on the Board of Governors of Miriam Hospital and sits on the Rhode Island Provider Finance Committee for Lifespan.

James P. Tiernan
James P. Tiernan has been named vice president of commercial banking at Citizens Bank. The North Kingstown resident was previously vice president and relationship manager of the entrepreneurial services group at Fleet Bank. Tiernan received a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Rhode Island. He is active with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop One in Saunderstown; the Lions Club, Narragansett Chapter; URI Graduate School of Oceanography and the Plum Beach Beach Club.
Donna L. Matthews
Donna L. Mat-thews has been promoted to vice president in the business banking group at BankBoston. She is responsible for all new business prospecting and cross-selling existing customers with annual sales of $1 million to $10 million. Prior to her promotion, she was a business development officer at the bank. She is enrolled at Johnson & Wales University working toward her bachelor’s degree in marketing. She is the president of the American Business Woman’s Association, a foundation trustee at Community College of RI, and a board member for the American Lung Association. Matthews was the 1999 Woman of the Year for the American Business Woman’s Association.

Mandie M. Mohn
North King-stown’s Mandie M. Mohn has been promoted to office manager at Virtual Media Technologies. In this position she will be responsible for all day-to-day operations including customer service support, office administration, and general business operations. Mohn has business experience in the computer industry in account management and sales at CompUSA, Inc.; at Digital Control Systems, Inc; and at Microsource CAD/CAM, Inc. She also held system administrator positions for both Systems, Inc and for AGFA Compugraphic Division. Mohn has a master’s degree in business administration from Northeastern University and a bachelor’s in economics from the University of Connecticut. Virtual Media Technologies specializes in security and the related applications to business-to-business e-commerce.

Paul A. Senecal
Paul A. Senecal has been promoted to vice president of The Mitkem Corporation. Formerly marketing director, Senecal will now be in charge of the administrative and MIS departments, as well as continuing to oversee business development and project management. Senecal joined Mitkem in 1995, as one of the company’s first employees. A South Kingstown resident, he works with engineers, consultants and government clients to develop and define the scope of analytical chemistry programs. Senecal is a graduate of St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY.
HEALTHCARE
Michael D. Fine, MD
Michael D. Fine, MD was installed as president of the Rhode Island Academy of Family Physicians at the annual meeting of the Academy at the Westin Hotel. A managing partner of Hillside Avenue Family and Community Medicine, Dr. Fine is chair of the primary care advisory committee to the Department of Health, and the president of the Center for Occupational and Environmental Health of Rhode Island. He is married to Dr. Carol Levitt, also a family physician. The couple have two children and live in Scituate.
Walter D. Fitzhugh, III, MD
Walter D. Fitzhugh III, MD, of Barrington, has been named chief of the alcohol and drug inpatient program at Butler Hospital. Before coming to Butler, he had been on active duty in the United States Navy, assigned to the Newport Naval Hospital as department head of mental health services and medical director of the Alcohol Counseling and Assistance Center. Dr. Fitzhugh received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and served his residency in psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital. He also holds a degree in dental medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He completed a fellowship in anesthesia at Boston City Hospital and a fellowship in university health services psychiatry at Harvard University.
HOSPITALITY
Ken Osgood has been promoted to general manager of The Capital Grille in Providence. He has been working for the Grille since 1996, when he started waiting tables at the Washington, D.C. location. Six months later he joined the training team in Boston and then moved on to management at the Capital Grille of Chestnut Hill. He has been at the Providence location since November of 1997, first as a dining room manager and then as an assistant general manager. A communications graduate from the University of New Hampshire, Osgood and his wife Jackie recently purchased a home in Warwick, and are expecting their first child in September.
MANAGEMENT
Judith Cuccorelli has been awarded the Certified Meeting Professional designation for having met the highest standards of proficiency in meeting management by the Convention Liaison Council. A Pawtucket resident, she successfully completed the CMP exam, covering 27 function areas and 22 independent conditions of meeting management. She joins the 5,068 industry professionals countrywide who have earned the CMP designation, which is based on professional experience and academic examination.
Richard Ferreira
Richard Ferreira has been appointed operations manager at the Rhode Island Convention Center. A former employee, he will supervise other employees during large tradeshow and public show set-ups. Ferreira has six years of management experience, previously serving as the Convention Center’s general foreman. He served as district service manager for Unifirst Corporation before returning to RICC. Ferreira currently attends Johnson & Wales University where he is pursuing his bahcelor’s degree in management.
Brian Pestana

Brian Pestana has been promoted to sales manager at V.R. Industries, Inc. of Warwick. Joining the company in 1996, Pestana, a Worcester Polytech graduate has held a variety of production and administrative positions. He is a Warwick resident, and is enrolled in a master’s degree program at Bryant College. V.R. Industries has expanded from single printed circuit board assemblies to fully tested turn-key systems for its clientele. The company earned ISO 9002 in 1996, and is an FDA registered medical device operation.
