R. Anthony Cavanagh, general manager for the Burns International Security Services Division of the Borg-Warner Protective Services Corporation, recently received a master’s of science degree from Salve Regina University, and was also named the 1999 recipient of the Marquise Prize. The prize is awarded for academic excellence to the administration of justice master’s program graduate with the highest grade point average. Cavanagh is a certified protection professional and a licensed private investigator. A Middletown resident, he has been employed with Borg-Warner for 28 years.

Charles E. Broadhurst
Charles E. Broadhurst has been named vice president of accounting for Citizens Bank. He joined the Bank last year from Unisys Corporation. Broadhurst received a bachelor’s degree in English from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a DDL from the Bank Administration Institute School for Community Bank Management.

George Ross
George Ross has been appointed strategic marketing manager of Schroff North America, located in Warwick. He joins the company after working more than eight years in senior product marketing and technical sales capacities for electronic packaging manufacturer, Vero Electronics. From 1993 to 1998, Ross was marketing director, where he was responsible for overall product marketing management, product planning, strategic market analyses, advertising and public relations, development of sales and distribution channels and training of direct and indirect sales forces. He will have similar duties at Schroff, which has an extensive line of standard and modified electronic packaging systems.

Maureen Boulanger
West Warwick resident Maureen Boulanger has been named director of catering at the Doubletree Islander Hotel in Newport. With nearly 20 years of experience, she will be responsible for all on-site and off-site catering sales. She will manage the catering staff and further develop Doubletree’s catering initiatives. She will develop selling strategies for catering and create special events for large groups. A New Zealand native, she was director of catering at the Yps-ilanti Marriott at eagle Crest in Michigan for three years before joining the Doubletree Islander

Nicholas R. Derosa
Nicholas R. DeRosa has been appointed as executive director of The Rhode Island Manufacturers Association. RIMA is an organization whose purpose is to promote manufacturing in the state of Rhode Island. De-Rosa will be responsible for expanding the organization’s membership base, managing the legislative efforts and informing the state’s executive and legislative branches of the contributions manufacturing has made and continues to make to the state’s economy. He previously served as financial services industry and Central Rhode Island account executive for the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation. He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Bentley College and a master’s in business administration from Bryant.
Dhaval G. Broker
Dhaval G. Broker of Warwick has joined Fielding Manufacturing as manufacturing engineer. He is responsible for overseeing and improving manufacturing processes, troubleshooting, and wor-king on new projects. A native of India, he earned a master’s in science in plastics engineering from UMass Lowell.

Elizabeth Buckley
Elizabeth Buckley, a resident of Providence, has recently joined the Providence War-wick Convention & Visitors Bureau as membership sales manager. In this position she is responsible for selling CVB memberships to local businesses. She will also develop membership services and host events such as new member luncheons and the CVB Xchange, a series of member networking events. Buckley comes to the CVB from the Providence Marriott, where she was named food and beverage sales manager of the year for the Northeast region. Previously she had owned and operated the successful Newport Scenic Tours, a destination management company in Newport.
PHARMACEUTICAL
Terry Winchell has been appointed director of quality assurance and process improvement at Clinical Studies, Ltd. With approximately ten years of experience as an investigator with the FDA, Winchell, has been responsible for numerous inspections and investigations enforcing the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. Winchell has spent the last 17 years in the pharmaceutical industry, with primary responsibilities involving GCP compliance. Most recently he held the position of senior GCP compliance specialist at Hoechst Marion Roussel, Inc.

James Howland
James Howland has joined the management team of M. Weisman Roofing Co., Inc. He will be responsible for estimating and project management of commercial/industrial projects. Howland’s experience includes quality control and systems specifications at Briggs Associates and estimating/project management at Greenwood Industries. A resident of North Dighton, Howland is a firefighter and emergency technician. He is also a founding member and safety officer for the water rescue team on the Dighton Fire Department
