The R.I. Department of Labor and Training has received a $911,380 grant to assist workers who have been displaced by foreign competition. The funds come from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Trade Adjustment Assistance program.
Funding will support efforts to prepare affected workers to obtain suitable employment. TAA services may include training, job search assistance, a relocation allowance, extra weeks of unemployment benefits, and other reemployment services.

This most recent round of TAA funding will benefit 970 workers at ten companies, including Leviton Manufacturing of Warwick; Coto of Providence; Slater of Pawtucket; Laminating Specialties of Warren; Paramount Cards of Pawtucket; ON Semiconductor of East Greenwich; Quincrafts of Pawtucket; P&C Quality Turned Components of Esmond; A.T. Cross of Lincoln; and Texas Instruments of Attleboro.
Eligible workers are notified via unemployment insurance mailings and newspaper advertising.
