$48.8M will expand Mass. weatherization program

BOSTON – As part of Gov. Deval L. Patrick’s Massachusetts economic recovery plan, the Mass. Department of Housing and Community Development will make $48.8 million in federal money available to expand weatherization assistance programs.
According to a news release, the funds will help the state achieve its goal of weatherizing more than 16,900 homes, lowering energy costs for low-income families, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and creating green job opportunities across the state.
In total, Massachusetts will be receiving $122 million in federal weatherization funding, which will also be used to train and support an energy-efficient work force in the state. &#8226
