David Gottlieb has been elected to membership in the National Academy of Science.
He is a professor of applied mathematics at Brown University, and studies numerical analysis and methods for solving partial differential equations.
Gottlieb received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees and Ph.D. from Tel-Aviv University in Israel, where he later chaired the Department of Applied Mathematics.
