AAA Southern New England this afternoon reported that the price of gasoline in Rhode Island has fallen for the 11th straight week, to within 2 cents of this year’s low of $2.199 per gallon, recorded on Feb. 27.
In today’s weekly survey, the average price of self-serve unleaded regular gasoline in the state was $2.219 per gallon, the auto club said, or 6 cents below the previous weekly survey’s result of $2.279. A year ago at this time, the average price was $2.719.

(In the club’s AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report, provided by the Oil Price Information Service, the average self-serve price today was $2.230 per gallon for regular, down from the month-ago $2.695, the year-ago $2.768, and the record high of $3.243 recorded on Sept. 5.)
The club found a 20-cent range in prices for self-serve regular in this week’s survey, with prices ranging from $2.159 to $2.359 per gallon. Similar ranges were seen for other grades of fuel.
For other grades of fuel, the weekly survey’s average self-serve prices in Rhode Island were $2.349 per gallon for mid-grade gasoline; $2.459 for premium; and $2.709 for diesel.
The weekly survey report for Massachusetts had not yet been posted. But in the Daily Fuel Gauge Report, AAA said, the current self-serve price of unleaded regular in the Bay State was $2.204 today, down from yesterday’s $2.224, the month-ago $2.600, the year-ago $2.745 and the recorded peak of $2.309 per gallon on Sept. 11.
The average prices for other fuels in today’s Fuel Gauge report were $2.370 for mid-grade, $2.460 for premium and $2.678 for diesel, down from an Aug. 12 peak of $3.081.
