AAA: Gas prices continue to fall

For the second consecutive week, gasoline prices in Rhode Island have fallen ten cents per gallon, leaving prices locally more than a dollar per gallon less than ten weeks ago in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, according to AAA Southern New England.

AAA’s November 14 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self serve unleaded regular averaging $2.18 per gallon, down 53 cents in the last month. A year ago at this time the average price was $2.04.

The range in AAA’s survey for regular unleaded is 31 cents, from a low of $2.04 to a high of $2.35. Motorists should continue to shop around for the best prices in their area, according to AAA.

A similar price survey by the Rhode Island State Energy Office reported an average of $2.20 a gallon for regular unleaded gas with a low of $2.15 and a high of $2.27.
